CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALES.
RANGE OF PRICES. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 12. The Christchurch wool sale was concluded! to-day, when the standard of prices set the previous evening was maintained 1 . Most classes of wool showed an appreciation on the Timaru rates of the preceding week, Merinos •and shabby wools being the exception, there being no change in these classes. Medium quality crossbreds and halfbreds recorded better, values by up to a penny and super halfbreds by about a halfpenny. All classes of Merinos, however, were practically unaltered on ’the Timaru rates, and were from a penny to twopence lower than the Christchurch January rates. No wool offered to-day sold at the figures reached here five weeks ago, and apart from Merinos the easing on that market averaged about a penny per lb. Vendors, however, met the market, and only 1700 odd bales, or about 8 per cent, of the offering, was passed. The activity displayed by Bradford buyers on the opening night was maintained, and the bulk of the wool went into the hands of that centre’s representatives, with the Continent securing a good' share of the small proportion of crossbred in the catalogue and also the better pieces. The top price of the, sale was 20d for a 34-bale lot. Merino made 193 d for 19 bales, and comb made 193 d for 17 bales.
