PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr W. B. Grant has been nominated by the Taranaki A. and P. Society for re-election, to the Board of Agriculture as the representative of the agricultural societies of Taranaki. The death occurred at Gisborn e yesterday of Mr George Langdale Sunderland R.N., aged 73 years. At the age of thirteen he entered the Royal Navy and served for nine years. He came to Poverty Bay in 1875, taking up fanning. Deceased was the first manager if' Ne'son Bros.’ Taruheru works and later manager of the Momoana. works at Hastings. He was a prominent member of the Hawke’s Bay Club, and for a. number of years- till the time of his death was president of the club. — Press Assn.

Lord Allcnby and party will leave Taupo for Rotorua to-day. Fishing conditions were very unfavourable as a heavy south-westerly gale blew all day. The party caught three fish trolling on the lake, and Lord Allcnby later landed two rainbow trout on the fly in the Waikato River near the Huka Falls. He paid a brief visit, to Wairakei yesterday.

It is announced from Wellington that the following have boon appointed inspectors of secondary schools:—Mr. E. Caradus, B.Sc., first assistant at Nelson College for the past four years and previously science master at the Auckland Grammar School; Mr W. T. Foster, M.A., B. Litt., French master at. the Auckland Grammar School for the past five years and formerly headmaster of Wellesley College, Wellington.
