LEGISLATION WANTED. TO ENCOURAGE INDUSTRY. IMPERIAL ASPECT STBF.SSED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Feb. 6, 10 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 5. A deputation representing the Federation of British Industries, the League of Empire, and the Stage Guild urged Sir P. .Cun 1 iff Lister, President of the Board of Trade, to introduce legislation to compel cinemas to show au increasing proportion ol British films. Sir .James Allen was among the speakers who emphasised the importance of the proposal from an Imperial viewpoint, of securing au adequate ex, pressiou of British ideas in the Empire’s cinemas. The teachers’ delegate expressed the opinion that British films were distinctly superior to the American from fhe viewpoint of suitability lor children. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
