MOTOR CAR IMPORTS.
Tli.' vear .just closed lists been a re- ( lie in Mew Zealand for sales of motor vehicles (says the Kudintor). T]ie iintions of motor vehicles f-,,,. the 10 months ended October dll. |!)o.- establish a new record for New /'ea laud, beat i iitr the same period of i-ist rear bv f-Kid. the figures for th.i tV-,, veers being- 15)25. 17,708: 15)24. 1d,:i02. .
The importations for the first six moillhs of flic year were particnlnrlv heavv. averaging 2152 a month. Had tips ■> v ora ire been maintained the 192> figures at the end of October would have bin’ll 21.500. We wm-e somewhat, alarmed in tile middle of flm war by the way imports weie piling up! and it is satisfactory to know that the position to-day is compk’.teJv altered. Imports of the, last four months have dropped from an average of 215(1 to 1200 and as the registrations have been --■rowing during the whole of the win ter Months, the stocks which note .u----cumulating have been largely absorbed During the period under review, tin* total registrations number 1.2,25i>. ae-iinst 12.258 imports. "Taken separately, the figures Uncommercial vehicles show to more anv.ullage then those relating to cars. Tim importations of cars numbered 10,125 and the n gistrations 9851, while tlu> importations of trucks mini her 2122 anginst 2425 registrations. So far as tliev'go, the figures quoted may I,‘ o considered very satisfactory, and so IV r as stocks of new motor vehicles are concerned there is nothing particular to worry over. The fly in the ointment is that unknown factor, the number of used cars taken in part payment for new ears, and held in stock bv trailers.
