RE-ELECTED LIBERAL LEADER!.

At the conference of the Liberal Party Air. Lloyd George was re-elected chairman for the 1923 session. Seven opposed bis election. Captain W. Wedgwood Benn explained that the opposition was purely parliamentary and not connected with the land policy, which has not yet reached the House of Commons. Opponents sought a united fighting policy in the House of Commons. Many Liberals voted with the Government, and the party was even disunited on free trade, lie emphasised that Air. Lloyd George had not declared himself on preference. Air. Lloyd George said the Liberals were united throughout the country. The only dissensions were among a few concentrated at Westminster. He appealed for unity and the avoidance of recrimination.
Sir John Simon and Air, Eunciman abstained from voting.
