AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.
STRATFORD EXECUTIVE. SPECIAL MEETING. At a recent meeting of the Stratford Executive of the South Taranaki Automobile Association matters dealt with included the Waipuku deviation and the Midhirst crossing. A deputation which waited on the Public Works Engineer was assured that, though the work could not be put in hand at once, tlu* deviation would he done within three years. In regard to the crossing mentioned, it suggested that the Kailway Department should provide the labour and the County Council the transport for the removal of earth to make the crossing. NORTH v. SOUTH. The Minister of Stamp Duties wrote to say that he could not refuse to register the Taranaki Association, but that h t . regretted the new society did not see its way clear to fall in with th ■. wishes of the South Taranaki Association and take the mime “North Taranaki. ’ ’ Kev. J. C. A. Kayll said that he considered the views expressed in the letter were incorrect. It was not a qubstion of the similarity of names that was misleading, but the name itself. The vanie Taranaki Automobile Association simply obliterated South la.ru* nnki. or. for that matter, any other association in the province. Mr. Malone: Lot us change our name from South Taranaki to Greater Taranaki. (Laughter.) The Minister’s letter was received. .MOUNTAIN KEN. t
The matter of arranging a motor run to the Stratford .Mountain House was left in the hands of the touring committee, Messrs. J. 6. Nichol, S. A. Ward and H. Bishop. THANKS. A letter expressing grateful thanks to members for airanging a trip for hospital patients to Upunake was received from the matron of the hospital.
