FRUIT SUPPLY.
FAILURE OF PEACHES ANI) APRICOTS.
NECTARINES FAIR. According to a. report issued by Roxburgh Fruitgrowers, Ltd., the South Island crops of apricots anil peaches will probably .prove a failure thus year, but nectarines and greengages promise to be fair and plums medium. The report .states that “ ‘Roxburgh Ried’ apricots, which promised only a moderate crop to sita.rt with, have fallen badly, so that this variety now be reckoned on at all. Thei position in regard to apricots now appears to. be that there will be a full supply for say ten days time, when the ‘Moorparks’ mature' about the beginning of February. For the rest of tile season the supply will be exceedingly light, “Nectarines and greengages maturing about the middle of February, promise to be a. fair crop. The plum crop —those varieties which extend from about the last week in January until the end of February —is also a medium crop. 'lhe bottling peaches are almost a complete failure everywhere.’’
