PEACE ASSURED

FOR BRITISH RAILWAYS. SATISFACTORY ENDING. RY NARROW AtAJORITY. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—i OPYRIGHT. LONDON, Jan. 25. The railwaymeu’s delegates discussed with the companies the memorandum regarding the Wages Board’s award, an hour after which Air J. H. Thomas made jystatement that, a resolution to refuse £the Wages Board’s award and declare a strike on Friday was lost by 36 votes to 41. It is noteworthy that this straight issue represents the final, decision, and may be regarded as a triumph for Air Thomas, who has consistently striven to uphold the prestige of the Wages Board. Peace is therefore assured in the railway after a week-end of anxiety.
