Sir Gerald Strickland has telegraphed to hi.s constituents in Lancaster as follows: “Neither myself nor my party lias joined the Maltese Labour Party. \Ve merely entered into a temporary agreement, opposing a coalition under pm-ltalian leadership, which desired to re-impose Italian education while we are determined that it shall be British.’
A cable published on Saturday stated : The Malta: correspondent of the Central News Agency reports that a sensation has been caused by the announcement that Sir Gerald Strickland has joined the Maltese Labour Party, lie is thus in the anomalous position of being a Labourite in Malta and a Conservative member oi the British House of Commons.
