TOURING IN N.S.W.
THE* MARONBRA SPEEDWAY. lAIPR-ESSIONS OF A LOCAL RESIDENT. . While in New South Wales, Mr Lysons, of Lvsons, Foord and Keilar, Ltd., went by car several hundred, miles in the south, central and north portions of the State. He says the roads are on the whole fairly good, though naturally in parts somewhat rough, but one of the drawbacks experienced was the frequent- open water channels -crossing the road, which could not be seen at a great distance and which caused mueh annoyance. He had the opportunity of seeing the Alaronbra Speedway, and was present when a driver capsized when going at a speed of over 90 miles an hour. He said- the back axle was* torn off and hurled a distance of over fifty yards. It was a miraculous escape from death for the driver and liis mechanic. The former was not seriously hurt, but the mechanic was badly injured. The speedway, lie added, is very fine, well built and appointed. The circle is about a mile round.
While there Mr Lysons saw Stratton, the successful motor cyclist, who said* that it- was unlikely he would be across in New Zealand this year. 'The prizes given over in Australia were so good that riders were tempted to stay there.
Air Lysons reports having had a great tour, and adds that motor traders have, had a wonderful year, and evidently the trade is booming for they are putting out a very large nunjber of cars. ...
