The German battleship Hessen failed to release the vessels imprisoned in the ice in the Baltic and returned to Revel. Russian ice-breakers, who are the most powerful i.n the world, also failed, hut the ice-bound vessels are now supplied with food. LONDON, Jan. 14. The Colonial Ofnce announces that the new Anglo-Irnq Treaty, continuing the present regime, was signed a 1: Baghdad yesterday in accordance with the terms of the League of Nations’ decision. SYDNEY, Jan. .14. The* Legislative Council debated the Electoral Amendment Bill, and, by 30 votes to 29, decided that the amendments made by the Council must stand. The Assembly lias appointed a select committee of the House to inquire into the reasons of the Council’s action.
