ROYALIST PLOT
DISCOVERY IN CASTLE. GO-BETWEENS ARRESTED. COMPLETE PLANS FOUND. S BY CABLE-PRESS ASSOCIATION— COP YRIGH I' LONDON, .Tail. 14. The Budapest correspondent of the Central News Agency reports that the police searching Prince Louis Wiudiscligraetz’s castle are alleged to have found a complete plan for a monarchist rising in Hungary to establish the Archduke Albrecht on the throne as king. The papers include a list of politicians supposed to have been sounded to accept ctlice. The French Minister has demamicu the arrest of Deputies Groemboes and Plain, who, he alleges, acted as gobetweens in the note fraud. A message from Budapest states that the police have been reinforced, especially in the vicinity of prisons, and the city is being patrolled by mounted guards because of rumours that the Fascisti have planned tlio liberation ot Prinee Wiiidischgraet/. and Nndossy, the chief of police. Although a communique from Budaon Saturday announced the con--7 illusion of the police investigations of the forgeries, it appears that the Hungarian authorities have resumed their inquiries. The delated discovery at Prince Wiiidiscligraotz’s castle was probably due to the combination of French pressure and the extraordinary structure of the castle, which has innumerable apartments, secret hiding places, and subterranean passages. The French press comments on the fact that when the Hungarian police were searching the castle no incri initiating discoveries were made, and it was not until French detectives insisted on a more extensive investigation that the printing press was found. Britain’s attitude is that the forgeries are a domestic affair, in connection with which Count Bethlen is discharging his duty, but it is considered that the arrest of Bartha, who is not only Admiral Horthv’s principal private secretary. but is also related to the Regent by marriage, is bound to create fresh suspicions for the Hungarian Government. The French view is that the conspirators had a double object. The first was the acquisition of large sums for the purpose of financing the monarchist manoeuvre, and the second discrediting France’s currency, particularly among the nations of tiio Little Entente. It is believed that the amount of notes intended to be circulated was 30,000,000,000 francs. It was hoped that they would pass unnoticed in consequence of the increase in the Banque de France’s net circulation. The Matin publishes details from Holland and Germany concerning statements made by those arrested, namely, Markovics, Marsovsky, Jnnkovics, and Olchvary. According to Jankovics. Prince Windisehgraetz has been a year experimenting with the forgeries. Ori November 30 the Prince showed Jankovics a pile of notes hidden in a wartirobe. They were later sealed at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and emissaries, including Jankovics, set out ro circulate the notes in Holland, Sweden. Denmark and Italy. Olchvary, when arrested at Hamburg, had luggage with false bottoms, in which were ten envelopes belonging to French banks, filled with bogus notes. The police als’o intercepted a telegram from Budapest informing Olchvary of the arrest of others at Amsterdam in j.rearranged words, namely. -* ‘ Jankovie.-, failed stock exchange.’’
