BITTER FEUD.
TWO YOUTH'S KILLED. RESULT OF BOUNDARY DISPUTE. SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 18. Jim McAlister, 48-year-old rancher, came down to the valley from- the wilderness above Springville, thirty-five miles east of Porterville late to-day and surrendered to the sheriff with the laconic statement, “I killed one of those Davis- boys.” While the identity of the slain man is as vet uncertain, he is believed lo be Jini Davis, IS-year-old mountaineer. The killing revives the bitter feud which last January led to a gun battle in the wild! hill country near Springville that resulted in the killing of Fred McAlister, a brother of Jim. Alma Harding, charged with the murder, was acquitted. Without apparent. emotion, Jim McAlister recited the details of the slaving to the local authorities, declaring that lie had bc-cn shot at and had returned the fire. _ He left the body where it fell, he said. Trouble of long standing over boundary lines of property in which the McAlisters, Davises and Hardings are interested was the cause of the killing of both Fred McAlister and the Davis boy. Each of the three families, it is said, claims the other has attempted to encroach, and there has never been a legal settlement.
