THE GRAND TO-NIGHT

“KING OF WILD HORSES,

An actor never before seen on stage or screen and without previous experience is said to walk off with all acting honours in “The King of Wild Horses,” Hal Roach’s unique and sensation feature drama showing to-night at the Grand Theatre. This actor is Rex, a registered Morgan stallion, who, but a few weeks before Fred. Jackmail started direction of the picture, was as wild and dangerous as a maneating tiger. A full supporting programme will be presented.

1 ‘THE IRON HORSE’ ’ —TO-NIGHT

To-night at the Opera House, \\ illiam Fox’s special screen production, “The Iron Horse,” opens a three night season. This picture has just completed a remarkable run on Broadway, which is, in all probability, a record for a motion picture. A new copy of_ the film was received last week from America bv the New Zealand office of the Fox Film Corporation. William Fox. the producer, spent twelve months in research work in the Congressional library at Washington and in the American Historical Museum gathering data for this production. New York knows the result of his three yeans toil in the making of the picture, and the whole world will know it very soon. “The I ron House’' ha.s been spoken of by the leading American critics, statesmen and historians as the greatest screen success in the history of the world. For his work in “The Iron Horse” George O’Brien, seen as the track builder of the first trans-contin-tal railway, is. destined to become the most talked of motion picture artist. There is a big supporting cast including several thousand troops, cavalry, Chinese labourers, Indians, railway workers. There are over 2000 horses, 1300 buffaloes and 10,000 Texas steers in the picture. A feature of the presentation will be the playing by an augmented orchestra of a music score specially written for the picture Box plans for “The Iron Horse’’ season are at Mrs. Cook’s, the Opera House confectionery.
