The yarding was in excess of requirements, and prices eased somewhat. Cattle. —Extra choice and prime ox made to 325, choice and prime 28s to 31s, ordinary 25s to 275, prime young cow and heifer beef 2->s to 28s, ordinary 22s to 245, rough 17s to 20s. Sheep. —Heavy prime wethers made 31 s, medium 28s 6d to 30s, smad and unfinished 24s to 26s 6d, heavy and medium prime ewes 20s to 245. light and unfinished 17s Gd to 21s. Lambs. —Heavy prime lambs made 01 os to £1 7s, light prime lambs £1 Is to £1 4s 6d, unfinished 12s to 17s. shorn lambs £1 Is to £'l 2s 9d. Digs. —Heavy and medium baconers made £4 to £4 os. light baconers and heavy porkers £2 7s to £3 16s. medium and light porkers £2 2s to £3.

DAIRY PRODUCE. Mr. 8. Turner, Wellington, advises that he lias received cabled advice from Messrs. Lonsdale and Co., Ltd., that for the week ended January 4 dairy produce quotations were:—Butter—Quiet; ItiSs. . Cheese—Dull; 965. PRICES EASIER AT BURNSIDE. DUNEDIN, Jan. 6. At Burnside sale to-day fat cattle prices were scarcely on a par with those ruling a fortnight ago. Fat sheep dropped Is 6d to 2s a head, lambs were cheaper by 2s a head and more, and pigs were substantially easier. Fat Cattle.—Prime bullocks, £lB to £22; medium, £l6 to £l7 10s; light and unfinished, £lO to £l3; prime cows am! heifers, £ll to £l3 10s; medium, £7 to £9 16s; old and inferior, £5 is to £7 os. Cat Cheep.—Extra prime wethers made to 625, and a few medium woolly wethers made 46s 3d; a few medium woolly ewes, 3tis 9d. Prime heavies realised from 43s to 465; prime animals from 31s to 31s; light, from 27s 3d In 295; prime heavy ewes, from 34s 3d to 3(is 9d; good, from 26s to 28s Bd, and lighter from 21s 6d to 265.

Lambs.—Extra prime lambs sold at from 30s 9d to 335; prime, from 26s 9d to 28s 6d; medium, from 23s to 255.

Store Cattle. —A yarding of about 260, comprised! mostly of fair to good cows and young stock, and including some thirty head of aged bullocks of medium quality. Bullocks failed to sell at auction, and other classes of stock met with only moderate competition. Bigs.—There was a sharp all-round drop of some shillings per head.

ADDINGTON MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 6. At Addington market large entries were the rule, it being the first market for a fortnight. Fat lambs—Extra prime lambs, 32s 6d‘ to 34s lOd 1 ; prime lambs, 29s 3d' to 325; medium lambs, 27s 3d to 295; light lambs, 25s to 275. Fat sheep—Extra prime wethers to 35s Id; prime wethers. 30s 3d to 32s fid; medium wethers, 27s 3d tio 30s; light wethers, 25s to 275; extra prime owes, to 29s 7d; prime ewes, 25s to 28s; medium ewes, 22s to 24s 6d; light ewes, 19s to 21s 9d; inferior ewes, 17s to 18s 6d. Fat cattle—Extra prime heavy weight steres, £lB 10s to £2O 7s 6d; prime heavy weight steers, £l6 to £18; prime medium weight steers, £l4 10s 6d to £l6 10s; medium steers, £l2 5s to £l4 os 6d; light steers, £lO to £l2; rough steers, £8 5s to £9 15s; light heifers, £5 to £6 10s; extra prime to prime cows. £8 15s to £ls 10s; ordinary cows, £6 15s to £8 10s; light cows, £3 15s to £6. Dairy cattle —Good springers sold well; third and fourth culvers to £l4 15s; others, £6 to £11; good 1 heifers to £ls ss; medium to good, £5 10s to £10; old sorts, £2 to £4. Fat pigs—A large entry and a considerable drop in prices. Choppers, £3 to £5 15s; baconers, £3 12s to £5 15s (average per lb, 6d to 7d) ; porkers, 44s to 66s (average per lb, 61 d to 7-ld).
