POMP AT ST. PETER’S.

—♦ CLOSING JUBILEE DOOR. SOLEMN CEREMONY. LONDON, Dec. 23. The pope to-morrow will solemnly close the .Holy Year by building up the Jubilee Door, which was opened on July 26, 1924. in the presence of Royal princes, members of the Roman nobility, ana princes of the church, the Pope, wearing a gorgeous jewelled robe, the gift of his former diocese of Milan, and accompanied by nobles and Swiss Guards, and seated in the gestatorial chair, will be carried through the atrium of St. Peter's amid a procession of cardinals and bishoxis. The procession will puss through the Holy Door, the. Poxie. bearing a lighted candle, being the last to go through. After that liis .Holiness will bless the cement and bricks, assume an apron, take a golden trowel, and spread cement thrice upon the threshold. He will lay three bricks stamped with the Papal coat of arms, symbolical of the mystery of Trinity anci reminding the faithful that Christ is the cornerstone \ of the Church. Cardinals and bishops will carry on the building up of the door, in which will be enclosed a bronze casket containing gold and silver commemorative medals. "Workmen subsequently will complete the building up. A million pilgrims visited St. Petr’s in the course of Holy Year.
