THE CABINET.
EARLY ANNOUNCEMENT EXPECTED. POSSIBLE APPOINTMENTS. It is expected that Avithin the next few days the neAV Ministry Avill lie announced by the Prime Minister, and it is generally understood (says the Auckland Star) that Mr J. A. Young, Chairman of Committees, is a certainty for Ministerial rank. There Avould be still two portfolios to be filled, and a Star reporter learned from reliable sources that it was quite likely that Mr K. S. Williams would be given the portfolio of Native Affairs. The third appointment lay between Mr F. J. Rolleston (Timaru) and Mr DaA'id Jones (Ellesmere). In the reshufflle of portfolios it is expected that AA'ith the raising of Mr Young to Ministerial rank Mr Hockly will be appointed Chairman of Committees. 1 The Hon. W. Downie Stewart will, it is anticipated, take Finance, and Mr Coates Avill give up Public Works; and this portfolio will be taken by Mr McLeod, who will also keep thafj of Lands. There has been talk for some months that Sir James Parr Avould be the next High Commissioner. If he does succeed Sir James Allen, it is thought in wellinformed quarters that the Hon. E. P. Lee, M.P.. will be appointed to Sir James Parr’s place in the Cabinet.
