An interesting relic of Otaki antiquity has recently come, into the possession of Mr. Byron Brown, namely, the millstones of the old mill that used to stand on the hanks of the Mangapouri S-tream. This mill was erected under the policy of Sir George Grey in 1851, together with a number of others in the North Island. The object was to encourage the Natives in industrial and peaceful pursuits. The stones each weigh half a ton. Salvation Army corps at New Plymouth. Wn.itara, Inglewood, Eltliam and Hawera held a field day on tho Hawera. Show Grounds yesterday. Major Macauly (Taranki) was in charge. Games were played and' at a service held during the day the unitedband gave a programme of music. Ser-geants-Mujor Birkett (Inglewood), Dowdle (Hawera.) and Treasurer Cobb spoke on behalf of their respective districts Miss Zoe Pavlile, a young lady from Hamilton, entertained the party with recitations Rheumatism, Sciatica or Lumbago—which of these is your bugbear?
