PERSONAL ITEMS.

A London cable message announces the death of Sir John Lo Sage, formerly editor of the Daily Telegraph. He was 82 years of age. An old Hawera resident who is on a short visit to the town is Air W. J. Mahoney, formerly of the Post and Telegraph Department, but now district manager for the A.P. Insurance Association. Air Mahoney has been staying with one of his sons. Air W. Foote, of Auckland, was in Hawera to-day in the course of a short holiday tour. Air Foote has always been interested in the sawmilling industry, and some of his relatives in years gone by worked the first timber mills at Afariakau in the very early days of settlement, afterwards moving to Whangarei.
