The Maheno, which is due to sail for Wellington on Thursday, takes the first shipment of the new season’s wheat to New Zealand. AUSTRALIAN BUTTER PRICES TO BE INCREASED. Received Dec. 30, noon. MELBOURNE, Dec. 30. Following on the announcement of the adoption of the Paterson scheme for the stabilisation of butter prices, to operate from January 1, the merchants decided that the wholesale price of butter should be increased immediately by twenty-five shillings per cwt. The retail price will probably be raised by threepence per pound.
