SEVENTH HAY ADVENTISTS’ CAMP. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DANNEVIRKE, Dee. 3,0. The annual North Island camp and conference of the Seventh Day Adventists is being held here. The opening session took place last evening. The conference is being held on the A. and P.. Showground, which has been converted into a miniature canvas town. The delegates number about 500 and are accommodated in 150 tents, which provide living and dining quarters. .Pastor W. R. Scragg, president of the conference, extended a welcome to the delegates, who included Pastor O. Montgomery, vice-president of the general conference and in charge of their denominational work in North America; Professor D. H. Wood, principal of the Australian Missionary College; and Pastor J. Westerman, president of the South Island. The conference lasts until January 10.
A FATAD MISTAKE. WANGANUI, Dec. .30. At the inquest on the circumstances surrounding the death of William Davis, who died through taking strychnine in mistake for asperin, it was disclosed that the deceased and his mate, Thomas McGuire, were suffering from the after effects of liquor and were in a had way. They had already drunk, the contents of a gallon jar of yeast and were searching for something to relieve them when they found a bottle of strychnine in the vest pocket of toe acting-manager of the station. He carried it about with him for safety, having taken it over fromi the previous manager, who left before Christmas. Davis died in a few minutes, while McGuire is making a comparatively good recovery. The acting-manager liberally dosed him with salt and water until the doctor arrived.
ANGLICAN BIBLE CLASS CAMP. HAMILTON, Dec. 30. The Anglican Bible Class camp is being held here, about 150 delegates, representative of the whole Dominion, being present. Addresses have been given by wellknown clerics, including Archbishop Averill. The inter-Island football match resulted in n win for the South by 18 to 3. In the swimming sports Hamilton won the cup and the club relay race St James (Christchurch) being second'. The inter-island relay race was won by the North. The aggregate points were: Hamilton 50. Tim am 14, Epsom 14, Christchurch (St. James) 47, pahiatua 17, Epsom nine Chirstchurch (St. Johns) eight, Hamilton three. .
