YEAR-OLD CRIME
MURDER OF BANK MANAGER. SECOND MAN ARRESTED SEQUEL TO A HOLD-UP. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY, Dec. 28. As a sequel to the murder of William O. Almeida, manager of the Hampton (Victoria) branch of the Commercial Bank on November 28, 1924, when the bank was stuck up by two men, one of whom escaped, Douglas Robertson, aged 37, and described as a skiffed laboux-er, was arrested in Sydney on suspicion on a charge of murdering Almeida. The hearing was adjourned till to-morrow. Robertson is stated to come from New Zealand. He has been in Sydney for about a month. A man named Perkins, whom Almeida, after being wounded, held at the point of a revolver till Perkins was arrested, was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment in connection with the crime. He alleged that a second man was concerned in the affair.
