OBITUARY.

MR.. RICHARD WYLIE. Very great regret will be felt at the new® of the death yesterday morning of Air. Richard Wylie, of Hawera, following on an accident on Wednesday. When leaving the office of his employers, Messrs Welsh, McCarthy, Beeehey, and Houston, solicitors, that evening, Mr. Wylie sliped on the concrete step and fell heavily on one shoulder. There were at first no serious effects, Air. Wylie was preparing to leave on Thursday morning for Pahiatua to stay with one of liis sons. The injury, however, became painful and medical aid was summoned. He was obliged to stay in bed, hut on Xmas afternoon he was in good spirits and talked over business matters with Air B. AlcCarthy, who. went to see him. Later in the evening, however, serious developments supervened and Mr. Wylie 'became unconscious. He died from heart failure between five and six o’clock on iSunday morning. Mr. Wylie was managing clerk for Blessrs Welsh, AfcOarthy, Beechey, and Houston, whom he joined about five years ago. He had lived most of his life in Wellington, where he had 'been many years with Messrs Izard and Weston, and had previously been in business with his brother. He was a very popular .and an able business man, and was highly esteemed by the members of the firm and by all their clients. He leaves a widow, two sons and two married* daughters to mourn, liis. death. One of his sans is Mr. H. (Dick) Wylie, well-known as a.representative Wellington and Taranaki Rugby player, and two of hi.q brothers are Ale-si's Andrew and Edgar Wivlie, of Wellington, the letter also well-known in Rugby union circles, Mr. Wylie himself was, of late years, a playing member of the Hawera Bowling Club. Deep sympathy will be felt with Mrs. Wylie and the members of the family in their sorrow. The funeral will leave St. Alary’s Anglican Church at 10 o’clock tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.
