LYTTELTON ELECTION.

PETITION FROM MR. MeCOMBS. (BY TELEGRAPH. PKESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 24. Air J. McCombs, in his election petition, alleges that certain persons were enrolled as electors, and voted, who did not reside in the district; that a number of persons enrolled had not resided for one year in New Zealand, and that a number of valid votes recorded for the petitioner ivere wrongly counted as informal. Mr McCbmbs asks that the ballot papers be subjected to a further recount, and that the petitioner be declared duly elected, inasmuch as the maority of valid votes were cast in his favour.
