ix: KNOWLEDGE BREEDS CONFIDENCE. Fear and anxiety have placed more barriers againsti sales than one can imagine. There are three cardinal points in salesmanship to be remembered: — (1) Your customer. (The customer must always be considered first in every deal.) (2) Knowledge of the goods. (3) Yourself. Supposing you want to grow a field . of potatoes. You plant the seed in the ground, and then do you sit down waiting for the day when you can harvest it;! No! You cultivate and cultivate and cultivate, and then you’ll have a bumper erop. There are- three wavs to cultivate your customers: — (1) Newspaper advertising. (2) Word of mouth advertising. (3) .Genuine service. Newspaper advertising easily leads for the biggest and quickest results from the money invested —‘ *invested, ’ * mark you, not spent, because good advertising is an investment, not an expense. The wagging t-ongue of the satisfied customer is .positively your, best advertisement, but can only be bought by) the pure gold of service. Selling is not merely the art of convincing. There is a certain psychology in conviction.. You are convinced of something only when that something 'sinks into the soul. The lie never lives, the superficial never lasts it is the truth alone that survives, and! it is - business logic only that) will, stand the test and the strain of time.
