TWENTY-FIVE FEET TO CELLAR. EIRE CAUSE FOUND. LITHGOW, Dee. 1. It has now been definitely ascertained that the explosion and fire in tlie cellar of the hotel at iLithgow were caused by fumes from a leaking Bowser about 25 feet away. A test showed that petrol was leaking at the rate of a gallon an hour, and/ when hole was opened in the cellar the smell was exceptionally strong. Water seepage was covered with a film of petrol. Earlier one man went looking for the cause with, a lighted match. It is believed he escaped because of ;ti chemical extinguisher and water having .just dispersed the fumes.
