. The many friends of Mr. C. W. Baker, late of the W.F.S. Dispensary, Hawera, will be pleased to learn that he was successful in passing his final at the pharmacy examinations held recently in Wellington.
The London Daily Express says definitely that Mr L. C. M. S. Amery (Secretary for the Dominions) and his Labour predecessor in office (Mr J. H. Thomas) will head a delegation of sixteen members of the Empire Parliamentary Association to Australia in 1926.
The call extended to the Rev. J. D. Wilson, of Waimate, South Canterbury, to the charge of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church at New Plymouth, rendered vacant by the death of the Rev. O. Blundell, has been accepted. The announcement was made at the services in the church yesterday. Mr. W. A. Sheat, Labour candidate for the Taranaki seat at the recent election, was tendered a social evening. by party supporters at New Plymouth on Saturday. Reference to the candidate’s good" work in the cause of Labour were made by Mrs. Alf. Avery, Messrs P. O’Dea, Jemison, and Bowen, the latter making a presentation of a well-filled wallet. Mr. Sheat, in returning thanks, expressed his confidence that Labour would eventually triumph in the constituency, and assured his hearers of his readiness to respond to another call.
