A local vernacular paper reports that the Emir Taber has gone to Soueida, the capital of Djebel-Druse, to consult the Sultan Pasha Elatrash, the DjebelDruse' leader, in regard to conditions of peace. The Emir Taber is a Alos'em, prominent in protecting the Christian quarter of Damascus from Moslems in the rerent disorders. Undoubtedly an atmosphere of peace is developing. With the people there is a growing confidence in M. De Jouvenel’s pacific- endeavour, and important developments may be expected shortly. Meanwhile, however, it is reported from Aleppo that the northern frontier is becoming very restive, bands being formed on the Turkish side.
