FRASER ROAD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) SCHOOL PICNIC. After the event one feels that no school children could have had a more perfect day. The day was line and warm, the bush at Mr. Thompson’s was an ideal place, and all the people rallied to an enjoyable time. Before lunch all hands were busy laying the table and lighting the fire, while the children played at their school organised games. At lunch fully one hundred sat around and did justice to the ladies’ baskets. After lunch there were competitions for all, the prizes being the smallest of silver coins. It was futn (watching competitors balancing small potatoes on a bottle making all speed to the. winning tape. Elat races, sack races, wheelbarrow races, jumps, boot and stocking races, kept the fun going fast and furious. There was always something going on for somebody. It was quite surprising when afternoon tea was called. Decks were cleared for the final act, the giving of prizes and toys, with which everyone was delighted. * Finally some lady asked for the school choir to sing their winning selection at the Hawera competitions. This led to more and more, until we finally wended our way homewards with the strains of “Homo, Sweet Home” still in our ears.' The verdict. was “the best picnic we have ever had,” and so the school year has once more drawn to its close, and another happy memory has been stored away of childhood’s days.
