POLICE ON STRIKE
“WILL STAND FAST.” “TTLL THEY ARE BURNT OUT.” MESSAGE FROM HEADQUARTERS. »Y CABLE— PRESS ASSOCIATION OOPYBIGH'J Received Dec. 19, 10.30 a.m, LONDON, Dec. 18. The Belfast headquarters of the special police now on strike declared “the men will stand fast till they are burned out.” A message to this effect was circulated among all platoons by despatch riders. —Reuter. MIGRATION SUGGESTED REMEDY. LONDON, Dec. 18. The Ulster Cabinet has delivered an ultimatum to the striking constabulary that unless they return to duty by Saturday morning they will be disbanded and all pay forfeited. The Morning Post- suggests that the Ulster Government should get in touch with the Dominions and find the prospect of organising a colony of special constables, stating that there are wide, empty spaces in Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere where a hard, toilsome but healthy life can be led. This would be better than subsisting on a dole from Britain.
