DARGAVILLE MEETING. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.; DARGAVILLE, Dec. 17. The Dargaville Racing Club’s meeting opened to-day in glorious weather, the attendance was fair and the going was good. The totalisator handled £9066 10s, against £9713 last year. Results : Finlayson Memorial Stewards’ Handicap.—Wenday (Rosen) 1, Allegiance 2, Lute Sound 3. Also started: Lady Patience, PliyJlona. Won by three lengths, third horse three-quarters of a length back. Time, 1.42 3-5. Lady Patience was favourite. Maiden Handicap.—lllingar (Keesing) 1, Orchus 2, Some Lady 3. Also started: Scot Free, Electrode, Kildeen, Mangatina, Master Arch, Wild Arch, Creation, AYild Theory, Thurnham Rose. Won by three-quarters of a length, third horse half a head away. Time, 1.16 2-5. Scot Free was favourite. Dargaville Cup Handicap.—Right, and Left (Henderson) 1, Nocturne 2, Boomerday 3. Also started: Peter Rosa, Piton. AAYm easily. Time, 2.9. HORSES EN ROUTE TO AUCKLAND AVELLINGTON, Dec. 18. From the Thorndon Station this afternoon, fcfrty-one horses will leave for Auckland to compete in the summer racing meetings. AVhen the train leaves Marton this number will he increased to 72. STRATFORD RACING CLUB. The nominations received by the Stratford Racing Olu'b are most satisfactory and good fields .are practically assured. Since last meeting considerable improvement lias been effected to the racing tracks and the new track is to be used for the forthcoming meeting. AVhat with the new track and the good bandieajpping ihy the lianctioapper (Mr, W. Russell),, exciting finishes are ' anticipated, of which patrons will get a splendid view. The lawn areas have been considerably improved and enlarged, and now there is ample accommodation for .patrons. Improvements have also been made to the ibird cage .so that now more .people are enabled to view the horses before the preliminary. Admission ito the outside lawn at the principal entrance is now by five turnstiles : the two on the north are for ladies and the three on the .south for gentlemen, for which correct change for Is and _2s respectively is required. There are increased facilities for change so that patrons may obtain change for the turnstiles. Motor cans arriving from the north enter the course via Flint Road and Tybalt Street; private cars arriving from the south enter the caur.se from Broadway .and Pembroke Road. There is ample".accommodation for motor cars and the Club employs a good .staff which is conversant with these vehicles. The northern portion of the horse-vehicle traffic ia .to he accommodated on the Stratford A. and P. showgrounds, and the southern portion in the horsevehicle paddock on Pembroke Road. 'Special trains will run both days, from Wanganui, Opunake, Tahora,, AV.a.itara, and New Plymouth, for which reduced fares will be available.

Trainer R. Brough left for the Auckland meeting early this week with Mura ahi, The Lamb and F<den Hall. Trainer J. Brown will leave by _ tonight’s boat with Star Area. Trainer Cox left by the midday train with The Banker, Reremoana, Helen, and Lady Cavendish.
