The Legislative Council refused to sanction the proposed increased taxation, and returned the Bill to the Assembly suggesting tnat last year’s rates should still obtain and that the increase be abandoned. The Assembly refused and sent the Bill back to the Council, but the latter, however, reaffirmed its previous pro cedure and returned the measure to the Assembly. During the debate the Minister for Forests said that if the Council persisted in its attitude the Governmentwould be unable to eary on. A dissolution is expected.
