MORE INFORMATION AVANTED. (BY TEUKGRAPII PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 16. At a meeting of the North Canterbury School Committees’ Association a delegate said that he had heard that home teachers in standard six classes had told their dull pupils to stay away from school while the proficiency examination was on, because they wanted to got a higher percentage of passes. The association decided to write to the Education Board asking for information on the subject. THAM.ES HARBOUR SCHEME. THAMES, Dec. 16. The tender of Mr Hunt, of Auckland, for £5825, has been accepted for full tide walls for the new harbour. Eight tenders were received, the highest being just under £IO,OOO. A suction cutter dredge is now being constructed, so within 12 months the greater portion of the scheme should be completed.
BOY DIES OF INJURIES. AUCKLAND, Dec. 16. Gordon Inglis, aged 16, who was admitted to hospital last week with injuries caused by falling on to the blades of a disc harrow at Albany, died last night.
