(Fiom Our Own Correspondent.} SUNDAY SCHOOL CONCENT. ' The-Sunday school children of Matapu, assisted by Eltham artists, presented a splendid concert programme to a large audience in the Matapu hall on Eli day evening. The items were: Songs, Mrs. Garden (Eltham), “Beyond the Dawn,” “Hose-clad Win. dow t • and “Salaam”; Miss Hooker, “Dawn Song”; Miss M. Guy, “The hairy Laundry”; the Eltham Trio (Miss Peters and Messrs Lambie and Orange), “Kentucky Babe” and “Cock Robin.” The Native Trio (Misses E., L., and P. Henry) gave “Farewell” and “Come to the Saviour” in Maori, and responded with the New Zealand hymn. Recitations : Miss Cross (Eltham), “The Minister conies to Tea,” “Old Speckle,” “Orphan Ally,” and “Specially Jim”; Jean Thomas, “Seed Time” and “Sleepy Head”; Norma Thomas, “The Stolen Patch” and “Yesterday”; Bessie and Rita Seed and Joyce Thomas, pianoforte trio; Edith and Phyllis Beech and Bessie Seed, “Marjorie”; pianoforte duets, Bessie and Alec Seed, Miss 0. Bococlc, and Miss F. Seed; pianoforte solos, Phyllis Beech,. Vera. Beech, Florice I Seed, Grace Mickleson, Olive Bocock; sword dance, Mabel Guy; Seann li'iublias, Grace Mickleson; Highland Fling, M. Guy and G. Mickleson.

The Rev. Mr. Orange thanked the parents for attending and taking such an interest in the items. He also thanked Mrs. Petty for donating several bags of lollies to be sold, and commented on the splendid behaviour of the large number of children present, who had been as quiet as mice all the evening. The National Anthem concluded a very pleasant evening. ATHLETICS. The Matapu .school, holders of the Bennett >and Sutton Cup. intend to lower several world’s sprinting records at the Dixon Banner sports next Wednesday so as to retain the trophy.
