ATHLETICS.
PRIMARY SCHOOLS COMPETITIONS. DIXON BANNER AND. BENNETT AND SUTTON CUP. The South Taranaki championship sports, to be held on the show grounds, Hawera, to-morrow, promise to he tlie biggest things of their kind ever attempted in Hawera. To cone with the large entries received it will be necessary to commence at 11 a.m. With such • numbers competing in all the jumping events, six jumping pits and six high jump fixtures will be necessary. This will enable six individual competitors to be jumping at the one time. While the senior boys are jumping the junior boys and girls will be getting off their running events, and likewise while the junior boys are jumping the senior boys and girls will be running. There can be no delays* for the programme has to be completed. The finals will all be reserved for the afternoon, and a great day’s sport is assured. By attending in large numbers the public will show their apnreciation of what is being done for the children, and furthermore will greatly encourage the young athletes in their endeavours to win the banner or cup for the school they represent. Tlie admission to grounds is Is, and this sum also admits to the stand and provides an official programme of events and competitors. Apart altogether from the competitions, there will be races for those children not otherwise competing.
