CONTRACT WITH KRIM. CONCESSIONS TO ENGLISHMAN. A REMARKABLE STORY BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Dee. .15, 10.25 a.in. PARIS, Dec. 13. The newspaper Midi publishes a remarkable story in which its special correspondent at Fez declares that he has seen a contract, dated June, 1923, betxv*>en Abdel IvrLu and Captain Charles Gardiner, described as a financier, shipbuilder and engineer, of London, under which, for the payment of £300,000 to be spent in arms and munitions for the Riffs, Gardiner was to receive all concessions in oil, mines, for ests, post office, telegraphic and telephone systems, docks, ports, customs dues, railways and public works. The correspondent adds: “In a word. Abdel ICriiu sold half a million Riffs to Gardiner for £300,000, plus a small share in the profits. The contract declares that the concessions are irrevocable for ninety-nine years.” Gardiner is stated to be an ex-sea captain, who has been Abdel Ivrim’s adviser for the past two years. —Aus.-N.Z.
