MANAIA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) N.Z. EAEAIERS’ UNION. A meeting of the local branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union was held in the county chambers last Saturday. Air. J. T. Clague presided. As instructed at last meeting, the secretary advised that he had sent out about 50 letters to members in arrears with subscriptions asking them to forward a remittance and thereby help to put things on a -working basis. Entries for root crops and lucerne competition were numerically very satisfactory, and it was hoped to add still a few more during the coming week; Air. E. J. Betts reminded members of the donation from the branch to the Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural club's fund. It was decided to-give practical support to tins movement by forwarding £3. The secretary was asked to make arrangements with Air. Deem to judge lucerne crops about the end of January.
