ATHLETICS.
ELEOTRia LIGHT MEETING. AT NEW PLYMOUTH. A -successful meeting was held last night at Western Park, New Plymouth, under the auspices of the Amateur Athletic CUuto. The events were all well contested and many close finishes were seen.
The big cycling event, the three mile scratch race, was easily won by O. Paker, who also carried off every lap prize but one. A track record for the mile was made by A. Gable, who s-tanting -from the 80 yards mark did the distance in 2mins. 15 3-ssecs. In the pedestrian events the most interesting was the two mile amateur run, which was won brilliantly by D. Robertson, of the High School, off the 140 yards mark.
