Mr Coolidge, in his annual address to Congress, outlined the legislative programme, which includes tux reduction, adherence to the World Court, continued effort .to strengthen tlie aviation services, curtailment of the Shipping Board’s .powers, increasing the President’s authority to deal with coal strikes, also better facilities for the enforcement of prohibition. Budget estimates for the coming fiscal year are 389,628,000 dollars, an increase of 160,083 over the current year. Most of tlie increase is l for the postal service, owing to tlie advance in wages. The cost of maintenance of the army and navy is about the same as previously. but is somewhat more, for aviation. ' There isi also a sum of 3,645,000 dollars additional for coastguard equipment to enforce prohibition. The President-, in his Budget message, said lie looked for a surplus of 330,307,000 dollars in the coming year, and 262,042,00 dollars for the present fiscal vear.—Reuter.
