In what the Federal authorities describe as the greatest raid on the supposed rum importing and distributing forces yet made in the United States, 20 men were arrested to-dav and charged with being implicated in an alleged liquor ‘'“ring.” The District Attorney (Mr Buckner) said the organisation controlled 18 ocean steamers engaged in _ bringing liquor to Rum Row from foreign ports. Among those arrested is William Dwyer, part-owner of race tracks in Montreal and Cincinnati, who is at the head of the “ring,” according to Mr Btrckner.
