ATTEMPTED ROBBERY.
THE NEWMARKET CASE. ACCUSED PLEADS GUILTY. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 3. At the Police Court, George Joseph Marshall was charged that on the night of November 6 he, being armed with a loaded revolver, did assault Robert Gilmore, manager of the Newmarket branch of the Auckland Savings Bank, with intent to rob him. The accused pleaded guilty and wa s committed for sentence. The accused, in a statement, said that he used to work in the bank, but had to leave owing to neuritis in the arm. He got married and had domestic trouble, and his wife left him. Being out of employment, and knowing something about hanks, he dec.’-ded to get some money in that direction. •
