The Beirut correspondent of Le Petit Panisien, in describing the situation in Syria that is awaiting the attention oi the new High Oommiissioner, M. De Jouvenal, says: “Bands of insurgents, little affected by the sharp French lessons, continue to infest Southern Lebanon, are stirring up a rising in Mount Hermon district, and threatening the road to Beirut. Their method is to march on a village, accompanied by mules and camels laden with arms and ammunition, secretly obtained. They arm and incite the inhabitants to revolt. They then extend their operations by blowing up bridges and terrorising the Christians. The correspondent quotes, as an instance of inite ipid i-ty of the Dir uses, that a party of twelve recently entered Damascus, sacked a police post anti departed singing.—-Renter.
