HIGH COURT APPEAL. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY, Dec, 2. Argument on the constitutional aspect of the Deportation- Act occupied the attention of the High Court to-day and had not concluded when the court rose.
VICTOR! AN SEAMEN. WANT EFFECTIVE ACTION TAKEN. MELBOURNE, Dec. 2. A stop-work meeting of Victorian seamen carried a motion condemning the attitude of the Sydney branch in declaring against a strike in the event of the deportation of Walsh and Johnson and of sections of the industrial movement which made s i m ilar'idecisions. The motion urged the industrial movement to take effective action to combat the deportation of the union leaders. NO ACTION LIKELY. Received Dec. 3. 11.15 a.m. MELBOURNE, Dec. 3. Although the militants secured control of (the seamen’s meeting, it is unlikely tb&t any 'action will he .taken bv the union' against the deportation of Walsh and Johnson.
