Alan day, December 14, should be a very -pleasant one in the lives of the boys of the Salvation Army Home at Elthaun and the patients of ' the Hawera and Stratford Hospitals and trie inmates of the Old Peoples’ Home, for on that day they will be taken for a trip to Otpunake by the -Motor Trade and iAiUitomptbiJe Associations. The function originated with the . Motor Trade Association, which decided at its annual conference last September to organise an annual “joy ride” for the benefit of orphans and to devote the Saturday nearest December 15 for that purpose. It also decided to ask the Automobile Associations to- co-oper-ate with it in this work. It lias therefore been arranged by the South Taranaki branch to have the “joy ride” on December 14 and the Automobile Asosciation will assist _ii required. Members- of the latter will, however, take out the patients of the Hiawera and Stratford Hospitals, as many as can travel, also nurses and the inmates of the Old Peoples’ Home in the afternoon. . A. programme of events of various kinds, including a treasure hunt and other attractions will be arranged and everything done to ensure that, the day will be most pleasant to all the guests.
