POISON ON APPLES.
BIG SHIPMENTS HELD UP. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Dec 2 1.15 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 1. Following the case of arsenic poisoning a few days ago, the Port of London medical officers held up 40,000 cases of American apples at the docks. Some of the importers, who retrieved their delivery at Covent Garden, are using a small army of women to wipe each apple in order to remove all traces of spray. —Reuter.
