Colson’s hous@ on Turnturn Road for the purpose' of discussing the proposed new school at Turuturu 1 ins is a matter which vitally affects the district, and it behoves a]i parents and householders to Ire present. c , U ’ J , lile , , on , a ' j'° :ida y. spent in the South Island, Mr. J. V. Velvin, of Hawera, put in four days at Dunedin, u here he had a most interesting time seeing the exhibition. Mr. VelvTn was specially impressed with the Canterbury and Southland courts. Both had displays typical of their provinces, and all were exceptionally well arranged. In the former especially there were representations, in miniature models, of farm life, the- crops, and scenes in the province, one specially attractive feature being a perfect model of I imaru harbour. But what they both specialised on were the primary products, and these were given very full displays and prominence. Mr. Velvin had the bad luck to miss the choir, as the concert was cancelled on account of the death of Queen Alexandra- The Argyll andi Sutherland Highlanders’ Band he heard several times, and over its playing he was very enthusiastic. It had a full series of orchestral instruments, with various efFects, and also the pipes, and the latter were marvellous and harmonised in wonderful fashion with the other instruments. The band was altogether, he said, a great attraction, and actually one of the outstanding features of the exhibtiion.
