WELFARE LEAGUE.
REPLY TO tOR.ITIOISIM. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. Mr. A. P. Harper, secretary of the Welfare League, referring to the comment on Mr. Skerretft’s appointment as Chief Justice, says tlialt lie considers Air. Holland’is agitation, of mind: is the best evidence that- the League’s attack on extreme socialism is doing harm to the 'exrcini.st-s’ campaign. “It is amusing to see,” be says, “Mr. Hoi,land talking of the Leaguo’s bitter' class prejulice, when!'the League was started to combat the efforts of the party which preached war class, and whose policy if is to foster class hatred in every phase. Far from having no real existence, as Mr. Holland says, the League membership is of considerable numbers and t-lie extremists knew it only too well.”
