SOUTHLAND v. OTAGO. (BY TELEGRAPH- -PlllißS ASSOCIATION.) INVERCARGILL, Nov. 26. Xh© cricket match between Southland and Otago was continued to-day. Heavy rain fell during the night and the wicket was sodden and the outfield dead. Rain fell at intervals during the morning, and interfered with the play. Southland had a lead of 42 runs from the first day’s play. Southland won by 111 runs. INTER-SCHOOLS MATCH. WANGANUI, Nov. 26. The annual cricket match between Palmerston High School and Wanganui Collegiate School was played yesterday in bleak weather. The visitors were dismissed for 61, and Wanganui replied with 116, winning by 55 runs on the first innings. PROMISING OKA I AAV A BOY. Harry Betts, an Okaiawa boy attending the New Plymouth Bovs’ High School, ■whose exploits with the ball have been recorded in cricket news fo* - the past few weeks, has so far in school matches taken 44 wickets at a cost of 82 runs. He has performed the "hat trick” twice. This lad should make an acceptable recruit for the Okaiawa Club when he leaves school.
