LABOUR’S PROTEST. METHODS TO BE ADOPTED. IRRITATION STRIKES IN N.S.W. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Nov. 27, 11.15 a.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 27. A meeting of the Trades and Labour Council discussed (the pending deportation of Walsh and Johnsoif and decided to endorse a- -scheme for holding a series of irritation .strikes in as many industries as possible. The debate was heated. One proposal, which was narrowly defeated, was that no action should be taken beyond ensuring that the dependents of the deportees should receive monetary assistance. A specyd meeting of the transport group to-day will discuss ways and means of executing the Council's decision. MELBOURNE OPPOSES STRIKES. .APPROVES OF PROTESTS BY UNIONS. . Received Nov. 27, -11.15- a.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 27. A conference of representatives of unions strongly opposed general or irritation .strikes on the deportation issue. It was decided that the only action to be taken would be protests by each individual organisation. BAIL REFUSED. Received Nov. 27, 11.15 a.m. SYDNEY, Nov. 27, An application to the High Court for the release of Walsh and Johnson on hail, in order to facilitate the preparation of their cases in the various courts, was refused.
