President Coolidge, speaking at the annual dinner of the Neiv York State Chamber of Commerce, pleaded for a more sympathetic understanding between business and government. He Avas of opinion that the ovenvhelming prosperity of the United States AA r as due to the practical independence and mutual helpfulness of and business. The President described hoAv the critical post-war period had been tided over by’ the extension of American credits, not only to Europe but also toLatin America, Australia and Japan. He characterised the terms thus far granted nations seeking to settle their war debts a.s A’erv generous, but he considered thev AA'ould pro\’e mutually beneficial to all concerned.
In conclusion, he urged most positively American adherence to a World Court.
